We developed this hands-on kit for an arboretum educational program.  It kit offers 12 activities or 12 ways to see a tree, prompting an understanding of the tree and living systems of which they are part. In these activities, students can identify patterns and colors, match, measure, calculate, make connections, record cycles and understand the values of trees as part of a larger ecosystems.

Through exploring growth, scale and leaf and root patterns, they can learn about the dynamic nature of life (always changing) and how species adapt to different niches in ecosystems.  Beyond the tree, they learn about the species that live on, under, around or in trees and how trees exists in communities of other trees, plants, birds, insects, etc.
